A2 · SUPPLEMENTARY GRAMMAR PRACTICE
Sollen instructions and advice
Sollen often reports an instruction or expectation from someone else. Sollte can give advice. Conjugate the modal and leave the other verb as an infinitive at the end. Soll and sollte are not identical in force: an instruction and a recommendation can sound different.
