Genitive prepositions wegen trotz während außerhalb

In formal standard German, wegen, trotz, während, innerhalb and außerhalb commonly take genitive. You may hear dative variants, especially with wegen, but these exercises practise the formal standard pattern. Distinguish the preposition während plus a noun phrase from the conjunction während plus a clause.
