Local prepositions wo wohin and woher

Separate location, destination and origin. With two-way spatial prepositions, a location normally uses dative and a destination into a spatial relation uses accusative. Movement inside one location can still use dative. Nach commonly introduces cities and countries without articles; zu commonly introduces people or destinations as institutions.
