A2 · SUPPLEMENTARY GRAMMAR PRACTICE
Passive with werden and a past participle
The process passive focuses on what happens to something. Use a conjugated form of werden and a past participle. An active accusative object can become the passive subject: Man öffnet die Tür becomes Die Tür wird geöffnet. Sein plus a participle often describes a resulting state. Not every verb can form the same personal passive pattern.
